Launched in 1996, DVCAM is Sony’s enormously popular professional version of consumer DV. Compared to DV, DVCAM uses wider recording tracks (15µm rather than 10µm) for greater reliability, has a higher signal-to-noise ratio, is ideal for archival purposes and yet retains full DV compatibility.
The advantages of the DVCAM format are further extended by a comprehensive product range, including both entry-level handheld camcorders and Master Series VTRs with unique high-end features tailored to broadcast requirements.
Typical DVCAM applications range from wedding videography to feature film production, corporate video to broadcast television. It is the ultimate ubiquitous digital broadcast and professional format.
